Our daily lives have been informed by those philosophers and writers who have owned and walked our property before us; Emerson, Hawthorne, Thoreau and the Alcotts. It has been our fortune, for over 25 years of innkeeping, to be able to share with our guests the feeling of joy we hold for this special place. It is our hope that, through our artwork, our observations and conversation and the ambiance of the Hawthorne Inn, we can convey to
you a sense of the spirit of Concord.

Many blessings have been bestowed upon us since 1976 when we found a weary 19th century building, on a 1 ½ acre brook-side lot, and converted it, with the sweat of our brow, into the Hawthorne Inn. Labors and good fortune have made us rich in myriad ways for we have likewise been entrusted with the treasure of raising three children, granted the boon of friendships, tasted the bounty of the earth, bestowed with the wealth of spiritual fulfillment and known the gift of community. We give thanks for this benevolence and hope that our legacy can be goodness in kind, repaid with interest.
So, come and visit. Pet a dog, write a poem, enjoy your partner and think an original thought.
